Production Plan - Stage 5

02/03/13 - 10AM

As usual, I have allocated the time from 10am till 12pm to film the narrative content of my music video. This time is quite limited however the female model has other work commitments starting at 12pm. During this time I am going to film the final break up scene which was previously altered. I need to visit the male models house to arrange the correct costume prior to filming as this scene is completely separate.

Hopefully I will be able to film the narrative content simply including the female model after her work commitment as this should be the base of my music video. I am not sure if i will use this footage as I did want to use the green room for the main singing content. But have decided to film anyway to ensure I have a back-up plan. In case I do not complete all my filming this weekend, I have booked out the HD camera for next weekend.

For the filming I am mainly using the sheet from the post "overview of filming content" as a guide to which parts of the storyboard I need to shoot. I have carefully indicated the timings of the areas of my music video which drastically need editing or footage added.

Green room VS Theatre

I am undecided as to the final location of my music video from time pressures of completing my coursework. It has been difficult to plan and allocate filming periods as I have had a lot more work for other subjects than expected. I originally planned to film the background performance content using the green room however my practice shot made me realise how time consuming this is. I seriously don't know if I have the time to perfect the shot and make the green background completely disappear. It would be easier to film in the theatre as use a projection of clouds instead as this does not involve much time in the editing process. But the quality of the music video will not be as good as the green room filming (if completed on time). The projection light would be very visible as the movement of the clouds would appear on the models face.

I have come to the decision that although may prove very time consuming, I am going to film in the green room. The colleges media technician and teachers will be around the department during my filming therefore easily accessible if i encounter any problems or need help. I will simply have to make sure I complete the editing for my music video and stay extra hours at college if needs be.

Star Effect Process for Digipak

I have experimented using a sparkle effect in the corner of the back page for my digipak, if it proves successful I might introduce this feature continuously throughout my album. This unique element ensures the audience can understand the pop and contemporary aspect of the genre, not just country. I did not have any idea on how to create this effect so researched the process on Google and found the following website:

I have taken print screen shots from the process of experimenting this technique. When following through with the process I was unsure as to the outcome therefore couldn't predict the most suitable size or opacity of the brush stroke for my image. If I use this technique it will have a much improved quality finish from my practice run.

First of all I had click several areas on a plain white page where I wanted to position the stars using the different advised brush strokes to use by the website. This involved the stroke numbers 70, 17 and 50 however there was many other star featured options to choose from.

The second stage involved saving the star brush I had created as "sparkle" allowing me to recover the created format when opening image.

Then I had to change all of the formats of the brush stroke that the website advised me, this included shape dynamics, scattering, size jitter and spacing. This was the challenging part of the task as it was difficult to locate the different options I needed to change.

Finally I was able to actually use the brush tool and place the stars on my image where i felt they was most suitable. At this point I felt the stars appeared quite bland and more emphasis needed to be placed on them to make them appear sparkly.

The website then instructed me to use the Gaussian blur tool, which I am already familiar with from softening the appearance of models during my AS foundation course. I changed the radius to 7.0 pixels instead of 5.0 as it made the stars stand out more.

Finally I used layer style, outer glow to give the sparkles a glowing effect to further emphasise their appearance on the page. I chose the position of these stars to follow over the models boots so the white stands out against the brown boots.
