Chosen Location

Heron Lakes is situated on the main road leading to Routh in East Yorkshire as it part of a luxury lodge park. The park is set in a 75 acre natural habitat and wildlife haven containing 4 large lakes and an abundance of wildlife.
I originally researched Heron Lakes using the Internet to find specific information regarding its address and telephone number. The images supplied by the company on the website show how ideal the location is to my particular music video. To further research the location in my personal time I visited the park itself to ensure the location was as idyllic as it was portrayed on the website.
During my college term break (30/10/12) I visited the location and it proved to be as beautiful and peaceful as shown on the website and appeared to be the perfect location for my music video. The park offered the choice of 4 different lakes; the Boating lake, Course fishing lake, Carp lake and Trout lake as well as  a natural pond placed at the back of the complex. As the main attraction of this holiday park is fishing small bridges are situated along the river bank of each pond which is exactly what I wanted to use, this fits in exactly with my storyboard and the shots I wanted to use.

Clearly the only problem with this location is that it is private property meaning I would have to request permission from the land owner. The reception inside the park primarily accepted my request but said I would have to still ask Ian White the main owner of the park. After a telephone call thankfully the owner accepted and sent me in the post many Heron Lake leaflets showing the whole park, he claimed he was happy to let me film my music video in his lodge park as it would be good for the business's advertisement.

The images are photographs taken by myself during my first stage of filming (02/11/12).

Costume Ideas

Research into Hair and Make up

HAIR - FEMALE
The most visible and key distinctive feature about the country style is simplicity by using low key colours in terms of make up and costume. The style originates from the USA and the appearance follows the day to day casual look workers used to have which was conveniant for their daily routines.

From researching different websites I found that it is conventional for country artists to have a compeltely natural look involving simple make up and wavy big hair. It is traditional for a girl of country ethnicity to have long pleated hair which can be fastened into different hairstyles. Crimping and curling tongs may be useful during the preparation prior to filming to give the hair a large and bouncy effect.

As you can see from these different images there are varied styles I can use which all relate to the country style. I think i will need to use rollers and curl my models hair to give it a thick and bouncy effet but leave the actual hair down so during filming the model can easily roll her fingers through her hair for certain shots.

MAKE UP - FEMALE

I found networking websites such as Yahoo answer and Wikki answers very useful when researching into conventional make up styles of the country genre. These sites provided vauluable information about what my audience associated the country style with therefore is importatnt to consider as the make up the model uses must be conventional.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110226211119AAWFsA5 (This is an example of a website i found useful).

I also researched websites which provided natural looking make up tips that may be useful when creating a plan for creating the overall appearance of my model.

After researching many website I will create an exact plan as too what make-up my feamle model will be wearing when I shoot my music video.

HAIR - MALE

Hair is an important feature to consider as it adds to the appearance and costume aspect which is part of mise-en-scene. Generally county men do not have a specific hairstyle as they follow the rugged and messy approch, this was suitable as traditionally

Chosen Cast

Elliot Morrell
As my music video will be taking the form of a narrative with aspects of performance features I had to choose an appropriate model to play the part of the "heartbreaker" during the storyline. It is very important to have a close relationship with the model as it will help the coordination of the production and allow me to take complete control as director. Fortunately I have known Elliot for 3 years therefore know he is very organised and will take on any challenge or task i ask him to perform. Elliot Morrell Is a student from Beverley 6th form currently studying his A-levels with the hope of gaining a place at university in the future, myself and Elliot are close friends which will help in the production and filming stages of the creation of my music video.
After brainstorming different model choices I personally asked Elliot to take part in my music video defining the role it entails including the commitment he would need to have to the project. I am very glad he accepted my request and am looking forward to shooting the music video with him. I am going to use Elliot in the shots associated with the female models memories of their relationship and the good times they previously shared. I need to research different costume ideas which could be appropriate for the country genre focusing on the old traditional interpretation. Presented below is an image of myself and the male cast lead showing our close friendship.

Millie Bardsley
After I chose a suitable song to create my music video and decided on the mix of a country/pop genre i decided Millie's image and style would be perfect for the style I wanted to create. She has a very unique look which is ideal for any director to work with as her image will make my video stand out and hopefully gain in popularity. Millie studies at Wyke College and hopes to achieve a career in Classical civilisation. One of her great hobby's is acting therefore she is studying drama at Alevel. The opportunity of being involved with my music video will give her valuable experience in this area of performance and as a result benefit both myself and her. I know Millie from college and also have a close friendship with her which as previously stated is beneficial as it makes the creation of production plans easier to create and improves the organisation stages. I am looking forward to working with Millie during my music video and think the whole process will be a great experience.

Chosen Model - Millie Bardsley

Although Millie is will no longer be appearing in my music video these images of the different costume choices I could use as part of mise-en-scene are very useful. The clothes presented above are very ideal for the innocent character I want to create for my main female character however unfortuantly the clothes are Millies therefore I will have to further research alternate sources of clothing which promotes the same message.
